In my short story A Long Way Down the characters jump from a space station in advanced space suits and plummet through the atmosphere, all the way to Earth, a kind of futuristic bungee cord jumping.

Reality is catching up to my fiction. Behold, the human flying squirrel: http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=1778399

(Notice how they mention getting bored by the less insane jumps? That’s what I imagined in my story as well. Humanity is remarkably able to get bored by things that are ridiculously cool if they are repeated too many times…)

    Like love?

    • Some people do seem to get bored by their loving relationships, and craving excitement, do self harmful things… I suppose it varies by individual and context how much "novelty" matters.
